Huge congratulations to the USF Plastic Surgery resident team on their first ever Residents Bowl title during Plastic Surgery The Meeting 2024 in San Diego, California! The team was comprised of Dr. Kristina Buller, Dr. D’Arcy Wainwright, Dr. Kristen Whalen and Dr. Reed Wulbrecht.
Dr. Wainwright also took home honors as the Residents Bowl top individual scorer. The path to a win was not easy; the team from USF had to defeat the University of Colorado, the University of Utah, the University of North Carolina, and Mount Sinai to face Baylor College of Medicine in the final round. Baylor defeated opponents the University of Texas Health Science Center (San Antonio), the University of Texas Medical Branch, UCLA, and the University of Michigan en route to the finals. The USF team shared that Baylor was an extremely tough and capable opponent, and it was an honor to face them and a proud moment to go on to defeat them. Prior winners in this competition include Ohio State University, Stanford University, University of Texas Southwestern, University of Washington and University of Texas San Antonio.
Dr. Michael Harrington, USF Program Director and Residents Bowl coach, told Plastic Surgery News, “This team worked extremely hard for each other, and they also developed a knowledge of their own strengths and weaknesses. I believe that mindset and attitude is why they were so successful. It was a team effort, which is what we preach at USF. They each contributed individually to the victory – and I’m extremely proud of my residents for their accomplishment.”
