USF Alumni Association Names Fall 2012 Outstanding Graduate Award Recipients

The University of South Florida (USF) Alumni Association has named two Fall 2012 Outstanding Graduates for the USF System. An Outstanding Graduate is a graduating senior who embodies leadership, school spirit, academic excellence, community involvement and a love for USF.

The Outstanding Graduate recipients will be recognized at USF Commencement ceremonies at their respective campuses. The recipients are:

Daniel Boyd – Boyd (right) is graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from USF St. Petersburg. A married father with an infant daughter, Boyd earned a 3.85 overall grade point average while working full time as CFO of his family’s business, operating a graphic design and illustration company part time, and serving in leadership roles with USF St. Petersburg’s chapter of the finance and accounting honor society, Beta Alpha Psi. Boyd participated in community service efforts benefitting Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity, and Project Homeless Connect, among others. After graduation, Boyd will serve an internship in the Tampa office of the Big Four accounting firm, Deloitte, focusing on international taxation. He plans to take his CPA exams and pursue an MBA at USF St. Petersburg. Boyd will be recognized during USF St. Petersburg’s Commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Progress Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater, 400 First Street South, St. Petersburg.

Marina Cosgrove – Cosgrove (left) is graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from USF Sarasota-Manatee. A native of Yugoslavia, Cosgrove moved to the United States in 2000, and will graduate with an overall grade point average of 3.83. Overcoming a language barrier, Cosgrove has been a student leader, serving as an officer for USF Sarasota-Manatee’s chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, and as a member of the university’s Accounting Society, and the Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Theta Kappa honor societies. Cosgrove plans to begin a career in accounting and earn a Master’s degree in Accounting. She will be recognized during USF Sarasota-Manatee’s Commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. Sunday. Dec. 16, at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
