USF Alumni Association Announces 2012 USF Alumni Award Recipients


TAMPA, Fla. – June 29, 2012 – The University of South Florida (USF) Alumni Association is pleased to announce the recipients of the University of South Florida 2012 Alumni Awards. Through their professional accomplishments and personal service, these four honorees were selected as representative of the University’s core values of student success, community engagement and global impact. The Alumni Award winners will receive their awards at a banquet held in their honor on Oct. 25.

This year’s award recipients are:

Leslie ‘Les’ M. Muma, ‘66 – Distinguished Alumnus Award
Recognizes a USF alumnus who has reached the pinnacle of success in his/her career

Les Muma, a Life Member of the USF Alumni Association, is the retired chairman and CEO of Fiserv, Inc., a multibillion-dollar financial services industry automation firm that he co-founded in 1984. He is a board member of MGIC Investment Corp., Hyde Park Capital Partners, and the USF Foundation, Inc. Muma was inducted into the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame in 2011. He and his wife Pam are generous benefactors of USF’s Colleges of Medicine and Business, and USF Athletics. Muma also is chairman of the USF Unstoppable Campaign, as well as a member of the USF 1956 Society – Visionary.

Roger D. Monsour, D.O. – Class of ‘56 Award
Recognizes a non-USF graduate who has provided outstanding service to USF and the community

Dr. Roger Monsour is the retired chief of staff and vice president of Medical Affairs for Flint Osteopathic Hospital in Flint, Michigan. Monsour, a Life Member of the USF Alumni Association, is a member of the USF Foundation Board, Inc., the USF Athletics Hall of Fame Executive Committee and the USF 1956 Society – Visionary. He received the College of Medicine Dean’s Award and is the founding donor for the Monsour Center for Executive Wellness at USF Health.


Angie Brewer, B.A. ‘82 & M.S. ‘84 – Donald A. Gifford Alumni Service Award
Recognizes a USF alumnus who has provided countless hours of service to USF

Angie Brewer is the CEO of Angie Brewer & Associates, LC, a full-service capital improvement financing firm that she founded in 1988 and developed into a multimillion-dollar business. Brewer, a Life Member of the USF Alumni Association, is a member of the USF 1956 Society – Founders and the USF Alumni Association U Club. Angie and her husband Jim are Hall of Fame donors and Iron Bull donors in Athletics. She is vice president of the USF Bulls Club Board of Directors, a former USF Athletics and USF Alumni Association National Board member, and also serves as the USF Alumni Association’s representative for the USF: Unstoppable Campaign. Brewer developed the “Be Respect-a-Bull” fan initiative and serves as a member of USF Women in Leadership & Philanthropy, in addition to funding various endowments and scholarships to the USF Sarasota-Manatee Campus, the College of Business, and the Alumni Association.

Nikole Collins-Puri, ‘01 – Outstanding Young Alumnus
Recognizes a younger USF alumnus for his/her outstanding professional achievements

Nikole Collins-Puri was the director of outreach for the College Board Advocacy & Policy Center, where she led high-profile initiatives such as the College Completion Agenda and Young Men of Color initiatives. Previously, she served as a special assistant for the City Manager of Carson, California, and prior to that, was the diversity and inclusion senior manager for AT&T Business Solutions, heading all diversity and inclusion initiatives for 60,000 employees. She has won several awards, including Women in Technology’s Rising Star Award, and was featured in their book No One Path: Perspectives on Leadership from a Decade of Women in Technology. She was presented with AT&T’s Leaders Council Award and was selected as a 2010 National Urban Fellow. She has earned a Master’s of Public Administration and is a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha Public Administration National Honor Society. Collins-Puri, a USF Alumni Association annual member, is a former USF Track & Field athlete, Student Government Senate President, President of Kappa Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and USF Alumni Association Outstanding Senior.
